Social Media! the buzz word or a whole new way of collaboration? Well the explosions, in terms of the user aggregation and engagement, suggest something else. It has become a new way of life where people are setting personal strategies. In terms of policies, organizations that set the policies don't see that people don't care much about what the policy is, they only care whether they get attention or not where they want it to be, even when its required to follow the ill-policy.
Back few months ago, when the explosion of relationship status came on facebook, it was hard for many people to grasp the impact of when somebody mentioned that they are engaged. Rest of the fire came out when it became open that to whom the person is engaged. Surely this does makes sense that if you are engaged to someone, just tell everybody that you are engaged, its not a big deal. But what if the other guy/gal mentions that he/she is not in a relationship or even worst if he/she mentions someone else in a relationship status. This hurts oneself and hurts more if other people comment. And there is no limit to commenting.
Now the above paragraph is not clear I know, but that was a simple example to show that there are certain things that are changes in the outlook of life. Being online means you are not in a physical proximity of other person. And today people spend less time being with someone than online. This trend will continue unless we introduce a killer technology that will merge the traditional and contemporary. Now why i am saying that this merger should be here is a debate-able topic that I will discuss in my next hub.
In my opinion the introduction of iPAD and mobile broadband into our lives is a great start that will bridge a gap between the traditional way of life and contemporary way of life.
Social Media! thank you
By the way, we would have to thank facebook and all those social media companies which are trying to evolve in the direction where the world will have seamless outlook of every event. Nothing will be hidden to anyone. Actually we will see the exact picture as it will happen. But the question that I am putting is whether we need to only look and see, OR we demand some qualities from our previous generations too. One thing is pretty much understandable that the world is not the same as it was before the social media. Here I would put a small link that will help you understand what i mean.
Thanks and Cheers
